Introduction & pre-arrival

The Ludlow Holiday Cottage is a detached brick annexe/outbuilding, it is situated to the side and rear of 33 Julian Road Ludlow. Ludlow ‘town’ is a 10-minute walk away, for shops, P.O. and Public Houses etc. The station is approximately a 10-minute walk (with an uphill gradient). Taxis can be pre-booked, Ludlow Tourist Information Office (01584 875053) have up to date contact numbers for local Taxi firms. Julian Road is a quiet residential area; the road is narrow in places. Guest parking is for one car, off road, on level, gravel driveway. The property is accessed from the drive, to its own front door. An illuminated outside switch operates the outside light, above the entrance.

Details of The property

The front door opens onto a quarry tiled kitchen floor area. Facilities here include; integral fridge with small 3 star freezer, electric oven, gas hob and integral dishwasher. Dark natural slate, counter top. The kitchen leads directly to an open plan lounge, with hardwood floor, sofa, antique armchair, dining table and chairs. A Clearview wood-burning stove is fitted into the corner of this room on a hearth, adjacent to French windows. Outside there is a stone paved courtyard, with an outside light and metal outside furniture comprising, café table & chairs.

Off the living room a door (opens outward) leads to the bathroom, the floor is quarry tiled, a white suite comprising; bath, W.C and washbasin are full sized. A hand held shower /bath mixer tap is fitted to the bath. Laundry: A front-loading washer/dryer is provided in the bathroom.

A steep spiral, metal staircase, with handrail leads to the mezzanine galleried bedroom, with a glass balustrade. The staircase has narrow, open treads. Two chairs, bedside tables & hanging space are here –together with the King-size/twin single beds and openable window. Mattress protector and pillow protection are fitted. Sheets, duvet covers & pillowcases are cotton.

During the Summer months there may be some light penetration into the galleried bedroom,from the half-round window in the living space (opaque glazing).

‘Spot” lighting or small side lights/wall lights, in each room. Some lights have energy saving light bulbs. Mains operated interlinked heat detectors are fitted in the bedroom and kitchen. Fire equipment is provided, detailed instructions for use, fire escape procedures and general safety advice is provided in the INFORMATION & ADVICE folder, for guest's further information. A First Aid Kit and torch are provided. Mobile phone reception can be limited. Free Wi-Fi is available.

We have identified two groups for whom the property is not suitable for;  children and infants, and any adult, with mobility problems, unable to cope confidently and safely with steps and/or open treads or spiral stairs.  The stairs; the stairs could be slippery in slippers/socks, so extra care should be taken, and at all times use the hand rail when using the stairs. Note. Guests must take every care to ensure the safety of any visiting, child/infant, or less mobile adult. The property is non-smoking. Pets are not allowed.
